Jack-O-Lanterns

Another Monroe-ism emerged this month. On a number of occasions, he referred to turning pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns as "jack-o-lanting" them. Here are some examples.

"Oh look, that pumpkin is jack-o-lanted."
"Can we jack-o-lant our pumpkins?"

Apparently jack-o-lant is a newly invented verb meaning to carve pumpkins. Ha!

Pumpkin Spice Muffins

Conway was my baking buddy this time and we made pumpkin spice muffins with chocolate chunks. Yum!

Three Brothers

These guys don't always get along, but I sure am grateful that they have each other, especially during the current pandemic when socializing with friends can be a challenge. We often try to squeeze in a quick "block walk" when their breaks/recesses align during the virtual school day. Most of the time Parker and Conway run ahead and Monroe walks with me, but today this is how I found them as I came out the front door. 💗

Pumpkin Patch

We decided to switch things up this year and headed to a pumpkin patch we hadn't been to before. We took a ferry to Bainbridge Island and visited a cute little place called Suyematsu Farms with our friends, the Verhasselts. We all picked out pumpkins, the kids ran around the farm and posed for pictures, and then we headed to a park on the beach to hang out with our friends - a pretty perfect day.

Sun Bathing

The boys heard that our dog, Olive the Beagle (may she rest in peace), use to like to sun bathe in this spot so they've taken to imitating her on sunny days. 😂
